PIRU, Calif. — United Water Conservation District is continuing controlled water releases from Santa Felicia Dam this week, sending approximately 200 cubic feet per second into Piru Creek as part of lake‑management operations that began on May 4, officials said.

The release, expected to continue for about 10 days, is intended to manage storage levels at Lake Piru following late‑season inflows. District officials said flows will remain steady unless conditions change.

Because of increased debris in the water, boating at Lake Piru is limited to 10 mph until further notice. Park staff reported that floating branches and vegetation have accumulated near the surface, creating potential hazards for faster‑moving vessels.

Whitewater access on Piru Creek remains available by reservation on weekends, consistent with the district’s controlled‑flow recreation program.

United Water said the release schedule may be adjusted based on weather, inflow and downstream conditions. No flooding concerns have been reported.
