Ventura County Finalizes $3.41 Billion Budget for FY 2026–27

Ventura County has adopted a $3.41 billion balanced budget for Fiscal Year 2026–27 following its annual public hearings in mid‑June. The approved plan reflects a 5.8 percent increase from the previous year and maintains long‑term fiscal stability while expanding funding for health, safety, and community programs.

County budget documents show that the General Fund totals $1.54 billion, supporting core operations across the Sheriff’s Office, Fire Protection District, Health Care Agency, Human Services Agency, and countywide administrative services. Staffing levels remain consistent at approximately 10,456 positions.

A significant share of the FY27 budget is directed toward health and human services, including expanded behavioral health treatment capacity, homelessness response programs, and continued support for Medi‑Cal and public health operations. County officials stated that these investments are designed to meet rising service demands and strengthen safety‑net programs.

The budget also includes funding for emergency preparedness, wildfire mitigation, and disaster recovery planning. Infrastructure and capital allocations cover facility upgrades, transportation improvements, technology modernization, and long‑term maintenance of county assets.

Officials emphasized that the FY27 plan aligns with multi‑year financial strategies and incorporates state and federal funding streams that support public safety, healthcare access, and community resilience.
