Ventura County supervisors have approved donating a Getinge 733LS‑E sterilizer and a reverse‑osmosis water system to California State University Channel Islands. The action was taken during the Board’s June 9 meeting following a recommendation from the Public Health Department.
According to county records, the equipment was originally purchased in 2021 for the Ventura County Public Health Laboratory. After a remodel and installation of a newer sterilizer, the older unit was no longer needed. The Board designated the items as surplus and authorized their transfer to CSUCI.
The university’s Biology Department will use the sterilizer and water system to support student research, laboratory training, and instructional activities. County officials stated that the donation aligns with responsible resource use by repurposing functional equipment for educational benefit.
