Ventura Finalizes $527.4 Million Budget for Fiscal Year 2026–27

The City of Ventura has approved a $527.4 million operating and capital budget for Fiscal Year 2026–27, establishing funding priorities for public safety, infrastructure, water and wastewater improvements, and community programs. The budget was formally adopted by the Ventura City Council on June 10, 2026.

According to the city’s budget documents, the General Fund is balanced at $153.8 million and maintains core municipal services including police, fire, parks, libraries, and public works. City officials stated that the FY27 plan continues long‑term financial stability practices while expanding targeted investments in infrastructure and environmental resilience.

Measure O, the voter‑approved sales tax, remains a major component of the city’s funding strategy. The FY27 Measure O allocation totals $25.7 million and supports street and sidewalk repairs, storm drain upgrades, beach maintenance, and development of a new storm drain master plan.

Several major capital projects are funded in the new budget cycle. These include continued work on the State Water Interconnect, upgrades to the city’s aging wastewater treatment facility through the Membrane Bioreactor Project, and improvements at Camino Real Park and Olivas Links Golf Course. The city also introduced a Cultural Arts Manager Pilot Program intended to strengthen arts, culture, and tourism.

The City of Ventura received budget awards earlier this year from the California Society of Municipal Finance Officers and the Government Finance Officers Association, marking the twelfth consecutive year the city has earned both recognitions.
