Grand Fire in Chino Hills Reaches 50% Containment; Evacuations Lifted

Fire crews increased containment on the Grand Fire in Chino Hills to 50 percent on Thursday morning after holding the fire at 30 acres overnight, according to updates from CAL FIRE and regional news outlets. All evacuation orders and warnings issued Wednesday evening were lifted after firefighters stopped the fire’s forward progress.

The fire was first reported near a vehicle that was burning along Grand Avenue, according to CBS News Los Angeles and ABC7. CAL FIRE reports that the cause of the fire remains under investigation. More than 200 firefighters responded, supported by aircraft during the initial attack, and crews remained on scene through the night to strengthen containment lines and conduct mop‑up operations.

One firefighter sustained a minor injury and was transported for medical evaluation, according to CBS News Los Angeles.

Grand Avenue remains closed between Grand Avenue Park and the city limit while crews continue working in the area. No structures are currently threatened, and officials report that containment is expected to increase as crews secure remaining hot spots.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by fire officials.
