Agricultural Burn Status: No Burning Allowed Across Ventura County on Thursday

Agricultural burning is not permitted anywhere in Ventura County today, according to the Ventura County Air Pollution Control District’s daily burn advisory for Thursday, May 21. The agency lists a full “No Burn” designation for all time periods and all regions.

The restriction applies to every agricultural burn zone in the county, including the Coastal Plain, Ojai Valley, Fillmore and Piru, Simi Valley and Moorpark, Conejo Valley, and Northern Ventura County. Both lower‑elevation and higher‑elevation areas in the northern region are also listed as “No” for the entire day.

VCAPCD issues daily burn decisions based on air quality conditions, weather patterns, and state air‑quality regulations. Even when agricultural burning is permitted under state rules, local air districts have final authority over whether burning may occur on a given day.

CAL FIRE’s statewide burn‑permit guidance notes that agricultural burning always requires confirmation from the local air district, meaning today’s “No Burn” designation is the controlling rule for Ventura County.

Residents with agricultural burn permits are required to follow the daily status and may only burn on permissive burn days. Today’s advisory indicates that no agricultural burning is allowed under any circumstances.
