The long‑anticipated kidSTREAM Children’s Museum officially opened to the public today in Camarillo, marking a major milestone for a project nearly a decade in the making. Families began arriving for the afternoon grand‑opening session, which ran from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the museum’s new home on East Ponderosa Drive.
The nonprofit museum features more than 21,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor exhibits designed around STREAM learning — science, technology, reading, engineering, arts, and math. Outdoor spaces include a Channel Islands fossil dig, a farm‑themed play area, a greenhouse, a farmers market setup, and a climbable tractor. Inside, visitors can explore a makerspace, hands‑on engineering stations, and a STEM gallery supported by Amgen.
Today’s opening follows a soft‑launch preview earlier in the week for families and community partners. The museum will now operate on a regular schedule: Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sundays from noon to 5 p.m. It will remain closed on Mondays.
General admission is $16 for guests ages one and older, with discounted pricing available for seniors, military members, and EBT cardholders through the Museums for All program. Children under one year old are admitted free.
The museum’s leadership says the new campus is designed to serve families throughout Ventura County, offering hands‑on learning opportunities and community programming. The organization has already reached more than 55,000 children and families through events and outreach prior to today’s opening.
