Israel Expands Military Operations Across Southern Lebanon

Israel intensified its campaign in Lebanon with a broad wave of airstrikes and expanded ground activity, according to reporting from Reuters and Lebanon’s National News Agency. More than 120 strikes were carried out across southern and eastern regions, marking one of the heaviest days of operations since the April 16 ceasefire took effect.

Lebanon’s National News Agency said the strikes reached multiple towns near Tyre, Nabatieh, and parts of the Bekaa Valley. The agency reported fatalities in vehicle strikes on May 25 and noted additional damage in rural areas where air activity increased throughout the day.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Israel had widened its ground presence and was reinforcing a security buffer near the border. Anadolu reporting cited by Middle East Monitor said Lebanese officials estimate that Israeli attacks since early March have resulted in thousands of deaths and injuries, along with large‑scale displacement.

Hezbollah announced that it launched drone and rocket fire toward Israeli positions, describing the actions as a response to what it called ongoing violations of the ceasefire. Israeli officials said evacuation orders were issued for several communities in southern Lebanon due to continued exchanges of fire.

Reuters reporting cited by multiple outlets said Israeli aircraft also struck areas near Beaufort Castle and the Qaraoun Dam. The expanded operations were described as part of a broader push that has intensified over the past week.
