Mission Produce Finalizes Acquisition of Calavo Growers, Completing $430 Million Deal

Mission Produce has officially completed its acquisition of Calavo Growers, marking a major consolidation within the North American avocado and fresh‑produce industry. The deal closed on May 28, 2026, following final regulatory approval from Mexico’s Federal Economic Competition Commission earlier in the week.

With the transaction finalized, Calavo is now a wholly owned subsidiary of Mission Produce. The company says the acquisition strengthens its vertically integrated platform by expanding its North American footprint, increasing sourcing capacity, and broadening its product portfolio across avocados, tomatoes, papayas, and prepared foods such as guacamole. Mission leaders noted that the combined network is expected to improve supply reliability, enhance operational scale, and support growth in value‑added categories.

Mission Produce stated that the integration will focus on improving asset utilization across its U.S., Mexico, and international facilities while expanding service to retail, wholesale, and foodservice customers. The company highlighted opportunities for innovation and efficiency gains across the fresh‑produce supply chain.

As part of the transition, former Calavo President and CEO B. John Lindeman will continue to lead the Calavo business during an interim period and will report directly to Mission Produce CEO John Pawlowski. The companies emphasized that long‑standing grower and customer relationships will remain central to their combined operations.

The acquisition follows Mission Produce’s earlier announcement on May 22, 2026, confirming that Mexican antitrust authorities had granted approval for the merger, clearing the final regulatory requirement and setting the stage for the May 28 closing.
