A routine probation appointment in Simi Valley led to the discovery of a large‑scale narcotics operation spanning three Southern California counties, resulting in the seizure of an estimated $2.1 million in illegal drugs. The incident began on May 29, when probation officers contacted 45‑year‑old Jason Klausmeyer during a scheduled check in the 3800 block of Alamo Street.
During a compliance search of the vehicle Klausmeyer arrived in, officers located approximately two kilograms of ketamine and more than $8,000 in cash. His girlfriend, 39‑year‑old April Baird, who had driven him to the appointment, was also detained. Both were arrested at the scene on suspicion of possession and transportation of ketamine for sale.
Following the initial arrest, detectives from the Simi Valley Police Department obtained search warrants for the couple’s San Clemente residence and associated storage units. The searches uncovered a large inventory of controlled substances, including 85,000 counterfeit Adderall pills, 25,000 MDMA pills, 30 pounds of ketamine, 7 pounds of cocaine, 1 pound of fentanyl, and 10 pounds of psilocybin mushrooms. Investigators also seized more than $27,000 in cash, gold, and silver.
Authorities say the evidence indicates the pair were involved in manufacturing and distributing narcotics across Ventura, Los Angeles, and Orange counties. Both suspects were booked into the Ventura County Main Jail on multiple narcotics‑related charges, including possession with intent to sell, transportation of controlled substances, and conspiracy.
