Arrest to Be Announced in 1990 Cold‑Case Kidnapping and Robbery

Ventura County prosecutors and local law‑enforcement leaders will hold a joint news conference on June 11 to announce an arrest and the filing of charges in a 1990 cold‑case kidnapping and robbery. According to official advisories, the case was reopened using new forensic DNA technology that allowed investigators to identify a suspect more than three decades after the crime.

The Ventura County District Attorney’s Office, Ventura County Sheriff’s Office, and Oxnard Police Department will outline the renewed investigative work that led to the breakthrough. Officials say the announcement will include details about the suspect, the evidence, and the multi‑agency collaboration that advanced the case after years without resolution.

The briefing is scheduled for 9:00 a.m. at the Oxnard Police Department, located at 251 South C Street. Credentialed media will be allowed inside beginning at 8:00 a.m., with reserved parking available. Agencies will also distribute photos, charging documents, and additional materials to reporters attending the event.

District Attorney Erik Nasarenko, Sheriff Jim Fryhoff, and Oxnard Police Assistant Chief Rocky Marquez are expected to speak. Officials have not released any information about the suspect ahead of the announcement.

Media contacts listed in the advisory include Ventura County District Attorney’s Office Public Information Officer Joey Buttitta and Oxnard Police Department Community Affairs Manager Paul Carganilla.
