Fillmore Hosts Youth Bicycle Safety Rodeo at Rio Vista School

FILLMORE — The Fillmore Police Department and Explorers Post #2958 held a free community bicycle, e‑bike, and scooter safety rodeo on Saturday, May 30, from 9 a.m. to noon at Rio Vista School, offering local families a hands‑on introduction to safe riding practices. The event, located in the closest neighboring city to Piru, focused on youth safety education as summer riding activity increases.

According to official city and sheriff releases, the rodeo included a chalked‑out safety course designed to teach basic riding skills and rules of the road. Attendees received free helmet adjustments and complimentary bicycle tune‑ups provided by Santa Paula Bike Shop. First responders from the Fillmore Police Department, Fillmore Fire Department, Ventura County Sheriff’s SWAT, Off‑Road Team, and Search and Rescue participated in meet‑and‑greet sessions emphasizing safe street behavior for young riders.

The event also featured raffle prizes and community vendors, including El Abuelo Coffee and Bakery, Mr. Softee, and Kona Ice. A Ventura County Air Unit fly‑by provided an additional highlight for families attending the morning safety program.
