A Goleta woman was arrested this month after investigators concluded a multi‑year embezzlement investigation involving a veterinary hospital in Somis, according to the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office.
Detectives began reviewing financial irregularities at Humphrey, Giacopuzzi & Associates Equine Hospital, where the woman had been employed as a bookkeeper. The Sheriff’s Office reports that the suspected activity occurred between 2022 and 2024 and involved approximately $67,000.
Investigators identified the woman as a suspect in April 2026 during the ongoing financial‑crimes review. On May 20, 2026, members of the Camarillo Investigation Bureau and Directed Enforcement Unit located her in Goleta and took her into custody without incident.
She was booked into the Ventura County Pre‑Trial Detention Facility on suspicion of violating California Penal Code 503. Bail was set at $20,000. The case remains under investigation, and no additional details have been released.
