A chemical tank implosion occurred at Nippon Dynawave Packaging Co. in Longview, Washington, resulting in multiple injuries and fatalities. According to reports, a tank containing a corrosive liquid imploded, causing significant damage to the facility.
Officials have confirmed that at least one person was killed and nine others are missing. Nine people were injured in the incident, with some suffering severe burns and inhalation injuries.
Nippon Dynawave Packaging Co. is a pulp and paper mill and liquid packaging plant that has been in operation since 1953. The facility employs around 550 people and produces approximately 280,000 tons of bleached liquid packaging paperboard and wetlap and slush pulp each year.
The incident is currently under investigation, and emergency responders are working to recover those missing and assess the damage to the facility.
