Hiker Airlifted After Medical Emergency on Runyon Canyon Trail

A hiker was airlifted from Runyon Canyon on Sunday morning after suffering a medical emergency on a steep section of the popular Hollywood Hills trail, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

LAFD crews were dispatched at 9:17 a.m. to the area near 1900 North Runyon Canyon Road, where firefighters located the man and began providing advanced life-support care. Officials said the patient, described only as a man in his 40s, was in grave condition when first responders reached him.

Because of the terrain, LAFD Air Operations performed a hoist rescue, lifting the patient from the canyon and transporting him to a nearby hospital for emergency treatment. Approximately 32 firefighters and paramedics were assigned to the incident.

Authorities have not released information about what caused the medical emergency, and no further updates on the man’s condition were immediately available.
