Santa Paula Branch Line Trail Master Plan Update Continues With Ongoing Public Outreach

The Ventura County Transportation Commission (VCTC) is continuing its 18‑month public outreach process, running June 2025 through December 2026, as part of the Santa Paula Branch Line (SPBL) Trail Master Plan Update. The project covers 27 miles of planned pedestrian and bicycle improvements from Saticoy through Santa Paula, Fillmore, and Piru, and community input remains a central part of the planning effort.

The SPBL corridor spans the historic rail right‑of‑way between East Ventura/Montalvo and Piru, and the updated Master Plan aims to modernize the original 2000 plan with new design concepts, updated environmental review, and improved active‑transportation connections throughout the Santa Clara River Valley. Planned improvements include new multi‑use trail segments, upgrades to existing paths, and safer pedestrian and bicycle crossings.

VCTC has scheduled multiple public workshops throughout the outreach period, with opportunities for residents to review concepts, provide feedback, and participate in shaping the future trail network. Community members can submit comments online, use the interactive mapping tool, or attend upcoming workshops as the planning process continues.
