Multiple victims shot near Toledo’s Old West End Festival; police searching for suspects

Multiple people were shot Saturday afternoon near the Old West End Festival in Toledo, Ohio, prompting a large emergency response and an active search for suspects. Police said the incident occurred shortly after 5:30 p.m., when officers arrived to find several victims suffering from gunshot wounds near the festival area.

Authorities confirmed that “many victims” were transported to nearby hospitals, but officials have not released the number of people injured or their conditions. Emergency personnel were seen performing CPR on at least one victim, and witnesses reported hearing multiple gunshots followed by crowds running from the scene.

Toledo police said the investigation spans multiple locations, including Delaware Avenue, Glenwood Avenue, and Robinwood Avenue. Officers reported they are searching for “a suspect or suspects” and have not identified a motive. Residents and festival‑goers were urged to avoid the area while police secured the neighborhood and processed evidence.

The shooting occurred adjacent to the Old West End Festival, a long‑running two‑day community event that features live music, food vendors, home tours, and local art in one of Toledo’s historic districts. Law enforcement agencies including the Toledo Police Department, Lucas County Sheriff’s Office, Ohio State Highway Patrol, and Toledo Fire & Rescue responded to the scene and assisted with crowd control and medical transport.

Officials said additional information will be released as the investigation develops, including updates on victim conditions and any arrests connected to the shooting.
