The Angels closed out their weekend series with a 2–1 win over the Texas Rangers on Sunday night at Angel Stadium, capping a dominant pitching performance from Reid Detmers and a late rally that sealed the victory in the ninth.
Texas opened the scoring in the second inning when Jake Burger connected for a solo home run to left field. The Angels answered in the third after Sebastián Rivero reached base and later scored on a Mike Trout single to even the game at 1–1.
Detmers controlled the rest of the night, delivering one of the strongest outings of his career. He worked eight innings, allowing just one hit and one run while striking out 14. His performance kept the Angels within reach until the offense broke through in the final frame.
In the bottom of the ninth, Donovan Walton reached base and advanced into scoring position. Oswald Peraza put the ball in play, and a defensive miscue by Texas allowed Walton to come home for the walk-off run, giving the Angels the series sweep.
Reliever Sam Bachman earned the win after navigating a bases-loaded jam in the top of the ninth to keep the game tied.
The victory marked a complete-team effort, highlighted by elite starting pitching, timely hitting, and late-inning pressure that produced the deciding run.
