The Houston Astros pulled out a tight 4–3 win over the Texas Rangers on Wednesday night at Globe Life Field, powered by another dominant performance from designated hitter Yordan Alvarez. Houston trailed twice early but surged ahead in the eighth inning and held on behind strong late pitching.
Texas opened the scoring in the first when Brandon Nimmo drove in Joc Pederson. Houston answered in the second with a sacrifice fly from Braden Shewmake that brought home Taylor Trammell. Pederson struck again in the third with a solo homer to right, giving the Rangers a 2–1 lead.
Alvarez responded in the fourth with a 428‑foot solo home run to center, tying the game 2–2. The score held until the eighth, when Alvarez launched his second homer of the night, a 448‑foot blast to center that put Houston ahead for the first time. Moments later, Christian Walker scored on a throwing error during a Trammell bunt attempt, extending the Astros’ lead to 4–2.
Pederson answered with his second homer of the game in the bottom of the eighth, trimming the deficit to 4–3, but the Rangers could not push across another run. Houston starter Mike Burrows delivered seven innings with six strikeouts, while Enyel De Los Santos closed the door with a five‑out save.
The win moved Houston to 25–32 on the season, while Texas fell to 25–30.
