Orioles Outlast Rays 9–7 in 13-Inning Battle at Camden Yards

The Baltimore Orioles secured a hard‑fought 9–7 victory over the Tampa Bay Rays in a 13‑inning showdown on May 25 at Oriole Park at Camden Yards, closing out one of their most dramatic wins of the season.

Both teams traded momentum throughout the afternoon, finishing with 12 hits each in a game defined by late‑inning swings, defensive miscues, and clutch at‑bats. The Rays entered the matchup at 34–17, while the Orioles improved to 24–30 with the win.

After a quiet early stretch, the scoring opened in the middle innings. Tampa Bay’s Jonathan Aranda delivered a solo home run in the sixth, giving the Rays a brief lead. Baltimore responded in the seventh with a pair of runs, including an RBI single from Blaze Alexander and a throwing error that allowed an additional run to score.

The Rays tied the game again in the eighth when Richie Palacios singled home Oliver Dunn, sending the contest into extra innings. From there, both teams continued to push runs across in the 11th and 12th, setting the stage for a decisive 13th inning.

Tampa Bay struck first in the top half, but Baltimore answered with a four‑run surge. Leody Taveras delivered a key RBI double, and Colton Cowser sealed the win with a walk‑off two‑run homer, sending the Camden Yards crowd into celebration.

Pitching depth played a major role as both bullpens were stretched deep into extra innings. Danny Enns earned the win for Baltimore, improving to 3–0, while Jesse Scholtens took the loss for Tampa Bay.

The victory marked one of Baltimore’s most resilient performances of the year, showcasing timely hitting and late‑game composure against a Rays team sitting atop the AL East.
